Cyprus Community of Melbourne and Victoria
About our Community

The Greek Cypriot community club of melbourne and Victoria is situated in the central location of 495 Lygon St, Brunswick.

The club premises operate 7 days a week and offer authentic Cypriot and Greek dishes in the restaurant, and live Greek music, Friday and Saturday evenings. There is a Kafenio, hall and a range of club rooms which are available for booking and for use for club members.

The club plays host to a varied range of groups, to which all are invited to join, attend and to participate in the rich and varied cultural activities which are on offer. Amongst these are: The Youth Group, The Elderly Group, The Leographics Omilos Group and The Greek Dancing Group, which holds dancing classes for all ages, with free tuition.

As you can see, our club has something to offer for everyone. We are a body recognised by our own local, state and federal governments, as well as the Cypriot government. As the oldest and longest running Cypriot club in Australian, (having celebrated 70 continuous years in 2004), we are able to provide assistance to our members on many levels, including applications to the Cypriot government

We organise a range of functions for our members, such as our annual picnic, regular dinner dances, special dances and dinners for commemorative events, ethnic gatherings, marches for our memorial days, book launches and our annual Cypriot wine festival. We also regularly attend and participate in other Hellenic events held by other Greek and Cypriot clubs. These are too many events and functions to list here.

However, we also look to the future. We invite new members, young and older. All are welcome. At present we have recently purchased the adjacent building to our existing club premises, which means that we will be expanding to an even bigger and better future. We are hoping to provide games rooms for our youth, larger meeting rooms, a roomier function and dance hall to increase space for our own performing arts. We are at the planning stage and are dedicated to making our future as bright and expansive as possible and to provide a lasting community and cultural centre.

Our membership fees are kept to a minimum. A $20 fee covers a two year membership, or a once off payment of $200 entitles on to a lifetime membership and one’s name engraved as such at the club premises.
