The Elderly Citizens Group of the Cypriot community of Melbourne and Victoria
The Elderly Citizens Group of the Cyprus Community meets on Wednesdays from 10 am. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed. Participants have the opportunity to mingle, chat, take part in fun activities and enjoy lunch together at midday.
The group itself is an active and vibrant organization, which plays a significant role in supporting a wide range of community events. For years, the group has been standing side by side with the Cyprus Community, to provide invaluable support for the community’s functions and events. The group supported the Annual Wine Festival for more than twenty years and in the last two years, it supported the Halloumi festival. During the Covid-19 food collection, organised by the Greek Archdiocese and supported by the Cyprus community, the Elderly group very generously supported the event. There is a strong tradition within the group to stand by and support events within the Cypriot community, as well as reach out to the wider Greek and Australian communities.
The group also organises special activities for very significant events like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas and many more. Over the years, the group members have enjoyed overseas as well as interstate and local trips. Long lasting friendships have been made, in many cases spilling over to the next generations. The management and members of the Elderly Group, feel proud of their involvement and contribution to community service. They also feel touched by the appreciation and respect, extended to them by the community organisations they support.
If you are interested to join our elderly get-togethers on Wednesdays, you are most welcome. You will find an inclusive and welcoming group, happy to embrace you as a valued member of our elderly family. You will also find a pleasant and enjoyable environment within our Community Rooms. English and Greek speakers are available to answer your queries and provide information about required community services. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles are all welcome. ΟΜΙΛΟΣ ΗΛΙΚΙΩΜΕΝΩΝ ΤΗΣ ΚΥΠΡΙΑΚΗΣ ΚΟΙΝΟΤΗΤΑΣ
Οι συναντήσεις του Ομίλου Ηλικιωμένων της Κυπριακής Κοινότητας, γίνονται κάθε Τετάρτη από τις 10 το πρωί. Στις 12 το μεσημέρι προσφέρεται φαγητό μαζί με διάφορες δραστηριότητες.
Ο Όμιλος είναι πολύ δραστήριος. Προσφέρει εθελοντική στήριξη και πρακτική βοήθεια, όπως στο Ετήσιο Φεστιβάλ Χαλουμιού. Παλαιότερα πρωτοστατούσε στην ετήσια Γιορτή του Κρασιού.
Πρόσφατα οι Ηλικιωμένοι μας, προσέφεραν γενναιόδωρα τρόφιμα και χρήματα στο κάλεσμα της Κοινότητας που σε συνεργασία με την ιερά Αρχιεπισκοπή, διεξήγε έρανο υπέρ των αναξιοπαθούντων αδελφών μας, λόγω της κρίσης του COVID-19.
Ο Όμιλος Ηλικιωμένων στηρίζει και βοηθά παντοιοτρόπως το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο. Η εθελοντική προσφορά τους, εκτιμάται τα μέγιστα.
Στον Όμιλο είναι ευπρόσδεκτοι, ΟΛΟΙ όσοι επιθυμούν να γίνουν μέλη. Καλωσορίζουμε γονείς, παππούδες και γιαγιάδες, θείους και θείες. Σας παρακαλούμε να επικοινωνήσετε με την κ. Το έργο της Κοινότητά μας, αναγνωρίζεται από τα μέλη και το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο είναι στην ευχάριστη θέση να σας ανακοινώσει ότι έχει πολύ καλές διαπροσωπικές σχέσεις με τις άλλες Κυπριακές Κοινότητες και Οργανισμούς και με την ευρύτερη Ελληνική και Αυστραλιανή κοινωνία.
Οι κοινωνικές εκδηλώσεις είναι ειδικά για τους Ηλικιωμένους. Με αυτό τον τρόπο τους δίνεται η ευκαιρία στην αναμεταξύ τους γνωριμία αλλά και να ενημερωθούν για Υπηρεσίες που μπορούν να αποταθούν για βοήθεια.
Οι συναντήσεις γίνονται σ’ ένα ευχάριστο και διασκεδαστικό περιβάλλον στους χώρους της Κοινότητας.
